The rules for using the site.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Which EV Should I Buy? at whichevshouldibuy.com (the "site"). The site is operated by CAM Software LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

1. What the site is: information, not advice

Everything on the site is general information to help you research electric vehicles. That includes the quiz and its results, calculators, cost estimates, range estimates, tax-credit summaries and charging guides. It is not financial, tax, legal, insurance or professional advice, and it is not a recommendation tailored to your full circumstances. Check with the seller, the relevant program, or a qualified professional before you make a decision.

Summaries of laws (for example federal tax-credit rules) are general information. This site and its content are not a substitute for the advice of an attorney.

Quiz results and calculator outputs are estimates based on your answers and on the assumptions shown next to each result. They are only as good as those inputs.

2. Prices, incentives, ranges and specifications change

Each car page shows where its figures came from and when we last checked them: a link to the source or, for our own estimates, to our methodology page. Lists and summary cards repeat those figures without the links. But automakers, dealers, utilities and governments change prices, incentives, warranties and specifications without notice, often without telling us. We don't guarantee that any figure on the site is current, complete or accurate for your location, trim or purchase date. Before you buy:

  • confirm prices and fees with the seller;
  • confirm incentives with the program that pays them;
  • confirm warranty coverage in the automaker's warranty booklet; and
  • confirm specifications with the automaker.

Some figures are our estimates, not tests of that car:

  • winter range, for every car; and
  • highway range, where no independent highway test of that exact trim exists (we scale a tested trim's result or apply a formula to the EPA figure).

The site labels these as our estimates, and our methodology page explains how we make them. Cost figures that use national or state averages (for example electricity prices) are estimates too. None of them is a measurement of your car, and your results will vary with weather, speed, load, battery condition, local prices and how you drive.

3. Independence, and names of automakers and products

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any automaker, dealer, charging network, or Which? (UK). No automaker or dealer pays us for coverage, rankings or recommendations. There are no ads on the site today; we may add display advertising later to fund it. Advertisers will not influence what we write or recommend.

Automaker, model, charging network and technology names (for example Hyundai, Ioniq 5, Tesla, Supercharger, Apple CarPlay) are trademarks of their owners. We use them only to identify the products we discuss. That use does not mean the owners sponsor or endorse the site.

4. Our content

The site's text, quiz and results, methodology, calculators, design and compilation of data are owned by CAM Software LLC or used under license. You may:

  • read, print and share links to pages for your own personal, non-commercial use; and
  • quote short excerpts with attribution and a link back to the page.

You may not, without our written permission:

  • republish substantial parts of the site;
  • use our quiz results, picks or any ranking or "best" designation in advertising or sales material. This includes dealers and automakers saying "recommended by Which EV Should I Buy?"; or
  • present our content in a way that suggests we endorse you.

Facts themselves (for example an EPA range figure) aren't owned by anyone, and we don't claim them.

5. Acceptable use

When using the site, you agree not to:

  • copy content or data from the site in bulk (for example to build a competing database or site). Search engines and AI assistants that follow our robots.txt are welcome to read and cite the site;
  • interfere with the site's operation or security, or try to get into systems you aren't authorized to use;
  • send spam, malware, or automated or bulk form submissions;
  • use the forms to harass anyone, or to submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights;
  • impersonate any person or organization, including an automaker or dealer; or
  • interfere with, hide or change the site's disclosures, privacy controls or (if we show them) ads in ways that mislead others. This does not stop you using your own ad-blocking or privacy tools.

6. Things you send us (corrections, messages, suggestions)

When you send us a correction, message or suggestion:

  • you confirm that what you send is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to send it;
  • you give CAM Software LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, copy, edit, publish and adapt it to run and improve the site. For example, we can fix a figure, describe a correction in our corrections log, or answer a common question;
  • we will not publish your name or email address without asking you first;
  • we don't have to use, publish or respond to what you send, and we don't owe you payment or credit for it;
  • if you later ask us to delete your personal information, we will, but fixes already made to the site stay; and
  • how we handle your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Links, third-party services and ads

The site links to automaker, government, charging-network and other third-party sites, and may in future show ads served by third parties. We don't control those sites or ads and aren't responsible for their content, offers, products or privacy practices. An ad on the site would not be a recommendation by us.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS AND ESTIMATES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CAM SOFTWARE LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CAM SOFTWARE LLC AND ITS OWNER, EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF MONEY, SAVINGS, INCENTIVES, PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR YOUR RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE. This includes a purchase, lease or financing decision, or a missed or denied incentive.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SITE IS LIMITED TO ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain of these exclusions or limits. In those places they apply only to the extent the law allows.

10. Indemnity

If you break these Terms or misuse the site, including by submitting content you had no right to submit, you agree to cover CAM Software LLC's reasonable costs, including attorneys' fees, of claims by third parties that result.

11. Governing law and where disputes are heard

These Terms, and any dispute about them or the site, are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be heard only in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, and you and we agree to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court where it qualifies.

12. Changes to the site and these Terms

We may change, suspend or remove any part of the site at any time. We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. Changes apply from that date. Your continued use of the site means you accept them.

13. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a provision, that doesn't waive it. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
